Public Transport

If you live in the Buloke, Gannawarra and Swan Hill municipalities and need to travel to another town, regional centre or city, then please consider using public transport.  There are a number of train and bus services available, and the following Journey Planner link can provide useful timetable information for you  -  Public Transport Victoria.

How To Use The Journey Planner

Once you are in the Journey Planner (from clicking on the above link), then you will need to select your travel options.  Please refer to the following as a guide:

  • Current Location - Type in your town, and then select the relevant bus or train stop that is offered in the drop down section.
  • To (Destination) - Type in your destination (i.e., Southern Cross Station), and then select the 'Southern Cross Railway Station' that is offered in the drop down section.
  • Depart - Type in your travel departure date and time, and then click 'Apply'.  Please select a very early time, in order to see all bus or train service options.
  • Options - This section has all types of public transport services selected, however you may wish to narrow your search by selecting only 'Regional Train and Regional Coach', so that is appear less confusing.  Then click 'Apply'.

The Journey Planner will load all relevant public transport options, based on your selection.  If you cannot find a suitable public transport timetable from your home town, then have a look and see what is available from a neighbouring town, by simply changing your 'Current Location' to a neighbouring location.  Often there are more or other travel choices from another destination, which means that it may be suitable for you to drive (or be driven) a short distance to a neighbouring town in order to catch a bus or train.  For example, if you live in Koondrook, but find that the train timetable in Kerang offers you a better schedule, then you may wish to travel by train.

If Using Public Transport To Attend Appointments

When scheduling your appointments, please ensure that you explain that your appointment needs to work in with public transport, and actively pursue a relevant appointment time.  If you make a 9am appointment in Melbourne, then it may be impossible for you to arrive in time (via public transport), and you will be forced to travel down the day before and stay in accommodation overnight.  This is obviously an option for you, however, if you do not wish to do this, then please speak up when making your appointments.
